With the beginning of a new school year upon us, it brings another expense for families. But the local VFW Post 9064 has stepped in to help those in need for school supplies. Commander Terry Martin visited the Elsberry R-II schools last week and dropped off a generous donation of school supplies to building counselors such as paper, pens, notebooks, rulers, and folders for students to use in classes.
When asked about this generous donation, Larry Flanagan, superintendent of schools said, “Once again this community has stepped up to the plate to help out the local school system without having to be solicited.”
The counselors very much appreciated the donation also, as some students attend school without all the supplies they need.
