Second graders Lillian Calvin and Gabino Francisco-Gonzales are enjoying the books obtained by a grant from the Libri Foundation. Clarence Cannon Elementary Library was able to add 75 books, valued at $1,400, to its collection. These titles were especially meaningful because the library budget was frozen this spring and halved for the school year 2010-2011. With the Libri Foundation's generous donation, students will be given the opportunity to see the most up-to-date materials even during this time of budget cuts. A bonus section of math and science books, valued at $350, was included in the gift. These titles, both fiction and nonfiction, which will enhance curriculum in Kindergarten through 6th Grade.
