Orange out the Night
The third time is a charm!!! After hosting an Orange Out The Night for the last two years, Elsberry Schools will host their third one on Feb. 3 against the North Callaway Thunderbirds. The last two events were for Gram Edwards and Vernon Brown, each fundraiser brought in $4500 for the honorees. “We are hoping to top that amount this year!!” said event organizer and media liaison, Kim Jones. This year’s proceeds from the night’s event will be given to the family of Paul and Sheila Long. Long is a Trooper for the Missouri State Patrol and assigned to Lincoln/Pike County and Sheila works in the food service at Elsberry Schools. Their daughter, Kaylee, is in the preschool at Elsberry Schools and suffers from an inoperable brain/spinal cord tumor. Their son Rylan is a first grader at Elsberry Schools and contends with Type I – Insulin Dependent Diabetes on a daily basis. For the nights events each team will be provided with the “Orange out the Night” t-shirt to be worn during warm ups and t-shirts will be sold to the public. Banners will also be hung recognizing the businesses that choose to sponsor the event. Many more activities are planned and information will be available closer to the big night. Individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring this year’s big night please contact Kim Jones at 573-898-5554 ext. 248. The deadline for sponsors to be listed on the shirts is December 1st.
