The January student of the month is Kaden Kinsler. Kaden is the son of Matt and Kandi Kinsler. Congrats!


During career week in October, Georganna Krumlinde, a heritage artist, spoke with the students about her art. She also had each student create a quilt square. She used the squares to complete the two quilts pictured. They will be donated to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.


Attention Juniors and Parents,
An After Prom meeting will be held January 22nd at 5:30 pm in lower 300. This meeting is for parents. After Prom is a wonderful event hosted by the Junior Class parents that includes fun activities and prizes to encourage our students to attend!

Prom will be held Saturday April 15th, 7 pm to 10 pm, with promenade starting at 6:30 pm.


Would you like to be an after prom sponsor? Do you have a donation that would be a great after prom attendance prize? After prom is designed to encourage student to make safe and healthy choices while having a great time with peers. Information on how to support this cause is attached.


Do these cold days have you thinking about summer vacation? The Elsberry R-2 School Board has approved the 2023-2024 school calendar. Please check it prior to booking your trip. If you are trying to plan around your child's schedule, this summer dead week for all MSHAA activities is July 30-August 6, 2023. There will be no practices or events scheduled during that time.


Congratulations to the December Art Student of the Month Alexis Lammert. Alexis is a junior at EHS. She is the daughter of Jeremy Lammert and Selena Lammert.


Parent Summit is on Thursday, January 19. We are again offering in person and virtual attendance. If you have not attended before, this event is designed to provide parents information on a variety of topics. Session descriptions with virtual links will be emailed next week.

MOST SESSIONS ARE 25 MINUTES AND WILL BEGIN AT 6:00, 6:30, AND 7:00. FEEL FREE TO PARTICIATE IN ONE OR MORE SESSIONS.


Erin Black started working as a substitute teacher in the Elsberry School District as a transition back from being a stay-at-home mom and it turned into a love for working with kids! She has now been an employee for five years and is a member of the Braves Staff.


Starting Tuesday, January 10, after school tutoring is available to high school students everyday after school in the high school library from 3:45-5:30pm. Students are welcome to come/leave as they please but they are asked to sign-in and sign-out for attendance purposes. One high school teacher will be present each day and the list of dates (with teachers available) is posted on the high school library door and outside the high school office. We offer these opportunities for students who may need extra support, wifi, and/or just a quiet place to work. If you have any further questions about tutorting please contact the high school office at ext. 213.

Crystal Meyer is in her tenth year of teaching at the Elsberry R-2 School District. She currently teaches in the Braves program working with EMS and EHS students. Crystal is an Elsberry alum who continues to serve her school and her community.


The final project in the Apparel and Textiles class was making a lap blanket.
Students had to operate the sewing machine, use a rotary cutter, hand tack, and hand sew to complete the projects. Apparel and Textiles class is instructed by Mrs. Kim Jones.
