Attention 8th Grade and EHS parents: Elsberry High School is hosting the premier assembly Breakdown STL on Thursday, December 14th at 8:30am. All Elsberry students grades 8-12 will attend as well as guests from Clopton High School and Silex High School. This assembly features talented teens from around the St. Louis area who dance, sing, and act. They address tough topics including mental health, addiction, substance use, abuse, relationships, bullying, self-harm, and much more. Informational letters were mailed home on 11/30/23. 8th Graders in Mrs. Waller's class are performing poetry! It is the EMS version of a poetry slam contest. A poetry slam is a competitive art event in which poets perform spoken word poetry before a live audience and a panel of judges.

Mrs. Shoeman's fifth grade students and Mr. Joe studied the difference between wild and domestic turkeys using a variety of instructional texts before Thanksgiving. The students finished the unit by creating a large Venn Diagram, turkey informational posters and salt dough turkey footprints.

The Medical Detective students created an experiment to test a hypothesis in regards to the effectiveness of different types of antibiotics on a bacterial pathogen! They placed the pathogen, treated it with 3 antibiotics and a placebo, monitored them for a couple of days, then measured results and analyzed their data to form their final conclusions.

Our EMS Student Council did a great job honoring Veterans today. Many people made today possible. Thank you Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Braden for organizing the event and all of the Stuco members for their assistance. Thank you Mrs. Cooper and the EHS band for playing multiple songs. Thank you Mrs. Heras and the Treblemakers honor choir for performing. Thank you for preparing the extra special breakfast for our Veterans and their students. Thank you Jed Heras for your trumpet solo playing taps. One last special thank you to our SRO Julie Conner for giving a speech during the assembly discussing the history of the day and what it means to be a Veteran.
