Attendance Matters
• Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
• Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
• Students can still fall behind if they miss just one or two days every few weeks.
• Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
• Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school and college.
On Paraprofessional Appreciation Day we want to give a shout out to the support staff at the Elsberry R-2 School District. Paraprofessionals are educational rockstars who make everyday better for students. They inspire, encourage, instruct, motivate, and create relationships that last a lifetime. They're a big deal and our school is so lucky to have such an incredible team of paraprofessionals on staff.
Please join us for the ADHD Parent Panel on Thursday, April 10 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the elementary library.
Come join us in an informal conversation about ADHD. Is ADHD having a large impact on the your daily life and your family? How do families cope? What works well; what doesn’t? Is medication the only answer? How do you navigate medication? You are not alone on this journey. Come interact with a panel of honest parents, teachers, and community members for a discussion about ADHD. Feel free to join us for the first time or come to join us again to continue the conversation.

Kindergarten Registration is Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18 at the elementary doors. Please note, the Elsberry R-2 Proof of Residency policy was updated during the March School Board meeting. Please review the new guidelines in the image.

Attendance Matters:
A habit of attendance IS a school readiness skill. Along with social-emotional and readiness skills, consistent on-time attendance is a habit that lasts. Children who are chronically absent in early grades are far more likely to be chronically absent in later grades.

Time: stop by anytime between 4:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. to fill out a pre-registration form
Children do not have to attend for parents to fill out the forms

The City of Elsberry has extended the boil order until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26. Water fountains at school will be closed to students, staff, and patrons during this time. Please send your child to school prepared with at least one bottle of water, or more than one, depending on your schedule.
Thank you Mr. Aaron Molburg for his surprise delivery today! He showed up with a huge water donation for our students . Thanks Mr. V and his students for helping us get it all unloaded. The City of Elsberry has issued a boil order that is in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday, February 25. Water fountains at school will be closed to students, staff, and patrons during this time. Water will not be available during lunch. Please come to school prepared with at least one bottle of water or more than one depending on your schedule. It is possible this boil order will be extended further into the week.

Tonight's basketball game /senior night is postponed until Sat., Feb. 22 at 630 p.m. JV will play 2 quarters followed by Varsity. The cross country team will also be presented their state banner at halftime of the Varsity game. This is due to a water main issue that has left school without water this evening.
